ELGIN, ILL. — Foodservice solutions provider Middleby Corp. has acquired Flavor Burst, a flavor and candy injection technology developer based out of Danville, Ind. The transaction was for an undisclosed sum.

Flavor Burst’s system allows foodservice companies to quickly flavor plain-base soft-serve products and frozen beverages, such as slushes, smoothies, frozen cocktails and frozen coffees. The system includes automated multi-flavor capabilities that improve flavor consistency and end user profitability without adding time to the dispensing process.

“This technology complements and extends the existing product offerings from our beverage group,” said Tim FitzGerald, chief executive officer of Middleby. “Flavor Burst systems can be found in chain restaurants and retail outlets worldwide. As part of Middleby and our beverage brand solutions, we are excited for the growth opportunities and providing a more seamless experience for our end users.”

Generating $5 million in revenue annually, Flavor Burst systems are used on foodservice equipment from Taylor, which joined the Middleby brand portfolio in 2018.
