Kashi expands steam meals

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. — Kashi Co., a division of the Kellogg Co., is adding two varieties to its dual-serving steam meal line.

The three-cheese ravioli includes multigrain pasta filled with ricotta, asiago and mozzarella and combined with spinach, red peppers and chickpea puree, plus a garlic-basil tomato sauce.

The mushroom and asparagus risotto meal contains whole grain pilaf tossed in Parmesan cream sauce with Crimini mushrooms and asparagus.

Packaged in two-serving bags, the products join a line that includes chicken and chipotle barbecue and Italian vegetable medley pasta. The new varieties are available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $6.95.

 

M&M’s chocolate bar debuts

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Mars Chocolate North America is unveiling the M&M’s Brand Chocolate Bar, a smooth milk chocolate bar flecked with M&M’s Minis candies.

The product is available in retailers nationwide.

 

Bear Naked introduces single-serve pouches

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. – Bear Naked, Inc. is adding 1-oz pouches of granola in two flavors: Fruit and Nut, featuring whole grain oats, almonds, walnuts, pecans, raisins and cranberries; and Peak, with whole grain oats, cranberries and cinnamon.

Crafted in small batches, the products contain zero grams of trans fats and no cholesterol, hydrogenated oils or high-fructose corn syrup.

Bear Naked Morning Power Packs are available at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.99 per 5-count box.

 

Smucker’s adds ice cream toppings

ORRVILLE, OHIO – The J.M. Smucker Co. is expanding its ice cream toppings with two Magic Shell flavors and two microwavable varieties.

Pink lemonade and root beer join the line of Magic Shell toppings, which harden to form a candy coating on ice cream.

New microwavable toppings include hot butterscotch and hot milk chocolate. A thermochromatic display has been added to all microwavable toppings to indicate when the product is properly heated.

The toppings are available nationwide.

 

Cracker Jack introduces popcorn

PLANO, TEXAS – PepsiCo, Inc.’s Frito-Lay division is adding Cracker Jack popcorn in kettle corn and butter toffee flavors.

The products will be available nationwide beginning this spring for a suggested retail price of $1.49.

 

7-Eleven launches Breakfast Empanada Bites

DALLAS – Convenience store chain 7-Eleven, Inc. is expanding its breakfast options with the introduction of its Breakfast Empanada Bites. The new miniature, crescent-shaped pastries, filled with eggs, cheese, bacon, ham and sausage, are priced at three for $1 at participating 7-Eleven stores.

Breakfast Empanada Bites are heated in rapid-cook ovens at 7-Eleven stores and served hot. Three Empanada Bites contain 10 grams of protein and 230 calories.

 

Baskin-Robbins announces winning flavor

CANTON, MASS. – Oreo Cookie Dough Obsession was named the winning ice cream entry by Baskin-Robbins in the company’s third annual fan-pitched flavor contest.

Rolling out in pre-packed quarts at Baskin-Robbins shops this December, the product features chocolate fudge ice cream swirled with a whipped cream ribbon and cookie dough and Oreo cookie pieces.

Contest participants were asked to create a signature ice cream from 31 base flavors, a variety of ribbons, such as fudge and peanut butter, and a selection of mix-ins, including candy pieces and cookies. The winning entry scooped up the most votes from Baskin-Robbins customers.

 

Church’s debuts Texas Chicken

ATLANTA – Church’s Chicken is introducing Texas Chicken, a marinated half chicken cooked without batter or breading and seasoned with a sweet and spicy blend.

The limited-time item is available at participating restaurants for a suggested price of $3.69 or in a combo meal for $5.69.

 

Fatburger rolls out patties for retail

LOS ANGELES – Fatburger, a fast-casual burger chain with locations primarily on the West coast, is launching frozen beef patties in Wal-Mart stores.

The third-pound patties will be available in 6-count boxes at participating stores nationwide beginning in June.

 

Long John Silver’s launches its largest fish

LOUISVILLE, KY. – At three times the weight of Long John Silver’s signature whitefish, the latest limited-time offering nets the distinction of the fast-food chain’s largest fish.

The Big Catch, a wild-caught 7- to 8-oz Haddock, is batter-dipped and served in a basket with a side and hush puppies for $4.99. The item is available through July.
