BOSTON — Ayana Bio has expanded its Plant Cell Advantage ingredient portfolio with the addition of plant cell-cultivated dog rose, hedge nettle and sage ingredients.

The plant powders may replace dog rose, hedge nettle and sage in food products and dietary supplements, according to the company. The portfolio also includes echinacea-p and lemon balm ingredients.

Ayana Bio cultivates plant cells in stainless steel tanks rather than growing plants in the ground, according to the company.

"The health and wellness benefits of medicinal plants rarely come from a single bioactive," said Frank Jaksch, chief executive officer of Ayana Bio. "Our Plant Cell Advantage portfolio maintains the full spectrum of bioactive compounds found in nature that work together in harmony to deliver the most powerful health benefits possible. With our newest Dog Rose PCA, Hedge Nettle PCA, Sage PCA, companies can incorporate high-quality, sustainable ingredients that improve people's quality of life."
