BOULDER, COLO.  — Meati Foods has named Phil Graves as its chief financial officer. As CFO, Graves will oversee the company’s capital expenditures for its continued omnichannel expansion, the company said.

Before joining Meati, Graves was most recently chief executive officer of Wild Idea Buffalo Co., and previously chief sustainability officer and foundation president for Bass Pro Shops. He also held many leadership positions for several years at Patagonia.

“Phil understands how to drive a purpose-driven enterprise that also delivers on profit, and this ingenuity is invaluable for short-term successes and our long-term mission,” said Tyler Huggins, CEO and co-founder of Meati Foods. “As Meati builds on a tremendous inaugural year establishing MushroomRoot as a new, profoundly nutritious and sustainable protein, Phil’s expertise will be a welcome addition to our executive team.”

He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and master’s degree from Texas A&M University.

Meati Foods is a maker of fungi-based meat alternatives. The company formulates nutrient dense meats using mycelium, the muscular root structure of fungi as its single main ingredient.
