KANSAS CITY — Snack manufacturers are capitalizing on increased consumer snack consumption with new product lines and flavors.

MET-Rx, a 1440 Foods brand, has debuted a line of granola bars. Joining the brand’s Big 100 portfolio, the bars feature 5 grams of fiber and 28 grams of protein per serving, with ingredients like rolled oats, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds and sunflower seeds. Flavors include chocolate chip and peanut butter chocolate chip. The company also is expanding its Big 100 meal replacement bars with blueberry cobbler and mint super cookie crunch flavors.

“The launch of our Big 100 Granola Bars fills a crucial gap in the market, providing a nutritious and convenient option perfect for the morning,” said Amie Testerman, vice president of marketing at 1440 Foods. “Unlike traditional granola bars, our bars pack 28 grams of protein, offering the nutrition essential to stay energized throughout the day.”

The J.M. Smucker Co. brand Hostess is rolling out its fall flavor lineup. Fans of pumpkin flavors will be able to enjoy the return of Pumpkin Spice Twinkies, Iced Pumpkin CupCakes and Maple Glazed Donettes, all of which are now available in stores. The company also plans to roll out Halloween-inspired offerings, including FrankenCakes, Spooky Twinkies and ScaryCakes, beginning in September.

“This lineup taps into the seasonal flavors that our consumers love and pair perfectly with trick-or-treating and all other fun fall adventures,” said Christopher Balach, vice president of marketing for the Sweet Baked Snacks division at The J.M. Smucker Co.

Better-for-you snack maker SkinnyDipped has launched Sweet + Salty, a line of nut-forward products. The snacks feature a lower-sugar formulation designed for healthier snacking, with varieties such as maple crunch almonds, vanilla crunch almonds and cinnamon crunch cashews.

“My mom and I often debate whether we’re more ‘salty’ or ‘sweet’ when it comes to snacking, then we figured — why not be both,” said Breezy Griffith, chief executive officer and founder of SkinnyDipped. “A healthy snack where a little sweet meets a salt kissed kick without the sugar hangover.”
