KANSAS CITY — Sauce and condiment makers are experimenting with products inspired by global cuisines and seasonal flavors.
McIlhenny Co. launched the first Mexican-style offering under its Tabasco Sauce brand with Tabasco Salsa Picante. The hot sauce is formulated with the brand’s pepper sauce base, red jalapeño peppers and a blend of spices that includes paprika and garlic powder. The product comes in a squeezable bottle format designed for easy additions to Tex-Mex meals, according to the company.
“We’re inspired by flavors and cuisines from around the world and are thrilled to introduce Tabasco Salsa Picante as our take on a Mexican-style hot sauce, specifically made for one of the most popular hot sauce occasions,” said Lee Susen, chief sales and marketing officer at McIlhenny Co.
McCormick & Co., Inc. has debuted a limited-edition line of finishing sugars for holiday desserts and beverages. The sugar granules come in varieties such as candy cane, English toffee, gingerbread spice, hot cocoa, salted caramel and white frosting. McCormick’s holiday finishing sugars are set to roll out in October and will be available while supplies last.
“The new holiday finishing sugars bring a sense of the season with a flavorful, decorative touch to baked goods or beverages,” said Giovanna DiLegge, vice president of marketing, NA Consumer, at McCormick.
Wynn’s Kitchen, a manufacturer of better-for-you Asian condiments, has added Lemongrass Marinade and Stir-Fry Sauce. The marinade and stir-fry sauce features bright citrus and aromatic flavors in a formulation free from added sugars, artificial preservatives, gluten and soy, according to the company. The product is aimed at consumers seeking convenient and globally-inspired meal solutions, joining the company’s existing portfolio that includes peanut sauce, sate Asian chili sauce and spice mixes.
“Lemongrass has always held a special place in my heart,” said Wynn Austin, company founder. “Its vibrant flavor is a staple in Vietnamese cooking, and I’ve always dreamed of making it accessible to everyone in a healthy, easy-to-use form.”
