KANSAS CITY — The at-home coffee category continues to record strong consumption rates across the United States.
Eighty-one percent of past-day coffee drinkers report drinking coffee at home, and coffee consumption reached a record high with 63% of Americans drinking coffee in the past day, according to the National Coffee Association (NCA). The historic number ranks coffee as the second most consumed beverage category daily.
“Coffee remains America’s favorite beverage other than bottled water,” said William Murray, president and chief executive officer of the NCA.
Drip coffee remains the most popular method of preparation among past-day coffee drinkers (36%), followed by single-cup brewing (24%). Ready-to-drink coffee was identified as the third most popular preparation method (18%), and past day RTD consumption has more than doubled since 2023, according to the NCA.
Manufacturers are building off this momentum and creating a litany of new products in the at-home coffee category, including new RTD offerings, format innovations and beverage additions to enhance the at-home experience.
