ZUG, SWITZERLAND — Wild Flavors GmbH has become a shareholder of Amazon Flavors, a corporation that manufactures flavors, extracts, emulsions and compounds for Brazil’s beverage market. Amazon Flavors’ portfolio features extracts and flavors derived from the guarana plant, acai berries, oranges and grapes as well as cola flavors. Energy drink manufacturers have used guarana in their products.

“Becoming a shareholder in Amazon Flavors is the next logical step in our international expansion strategy in the global food and beverage market, and the growth market for Brazil is outstanding,” said Hans-Peter Wild of Zug-based Wild Flavors. “Wild’s relationship with Amazon Flavors puts us in an excellent position to support our customers in this developing market.”

Based in São Paulo, Brazil, Amazon Flavors operates production facilities in Manaus, Brazil. Wild Flavors operates a Brazilian subsidiary with a sales office and development laboratory in São Paulo. That operation will be merged with Amazon Flavors. Claudio Bruehmueller, founder of Amazon Flavors and its previous majority stakeholder, will remain as managing director.

Wild Flavors cites market data from The Canadean Group, a market research company, that anticipates an annual growth rate of 3% to 4% in the medium term for the soft drinks market in Brazil.
