KANSAS CITY — Foodservice menus are expanding with the introduction of limited-time and seasonal items.
St. Louis-based Panera Bread has added to its breakfast lineup with a series of asiago-bagel inspired sandwich LTOs. The asiago bagel stacks feature a variety of toppings sandwiched in between asiago bagel buns, with varieties like chicken Roma, made with grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, basil, arugula, salt, pepper and garlic aioli; spicy steak, with marinated steak, provolone, arugula, red onions, peppers and a salsa verde spread; and zesty Tuscan, with grilled chicken, provolone, soppressata, basil, arugula, peppers and garlic aioli.
“Our asiago bagel is a signature item that our guests have always loved for its rich, cheesy flavor, and we realized there was room to showcase it far beyond the breakfast menu as part of this new lineup," said Mark Shambura, chief marketing officer at Panera Bread.
Yum! Brands subsidiary Taco Bell has launched its first ever chicken nugget offering. Joining the menu for a limited time, the nuggets are formulated from all-white chicken meat, which is marinated in a jalapeño buttermilk flavor, and breaded using a blend of breadcrumbs and tortilla chips. Alongside the nuggets, Taco Bell is releasing two new dipping sauces: Hidden Valley fire ranch sauce and a signature bell sauce.
“In a world dominated by chicken cravings, it was time to show the world how Taco Bell does chicken nuggets — unexpected and undeniably bold,” said Taylor Montgomery, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell. “The crispy chicken nuggets deliver a crispier, more flavorful nugget experience, and combined with the Hidden Valley fire ranch sauce, we hope it will test people’s devotion to their favorite nuggets.”
Hardee’s, a CKE Restaurant Holdings, Inc. company, has debuted three seasonal breakfast items. Inspired by the maple flavor, the lineup includes the maple biscuit, topped with an icing drizzle; the sausage maple biscuit, featuring a sausage patty in between a maple-flavored biscuit; and the maple bacon super biscuit, with cherrywood-smoked bacon, American cheese, a fried egg, caramelized maple and sugar on a maple-flavored biscuit.
For lunch time, the company also added the maple bacon frisco, combining a beef patty, four strips of maple bacon, Swiss cheese, tomatoes and mayo on sourdough bread.
“In the heart of winter, we hope our maple lineup of signature biscuits, burgers and bacon feels like a warm, nostalgic hug,” said Sarah Breymaier, vice president of brand marketing at Hardee's.
