KANSAS CITY — Foodservice operators are dishing out pizza innovations with a series of limited-time offerings.
California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has launched a series of Mediterranean-inspired, better-for-you menu items, including Mediterranean pizza, baked salmon and a Greek salad. The pizza features grilled zucchini, roasted tomatoes, red onions, olives, Parmesan cheese, feta cheese, oregano, olive oil and a drizzle of tzatziki sauce. CPK’s baked salmon is topped with olive oil, lemon, basil and scallions and comes paired with broccolini, roasted tomatoes, olives, capers, oregano and garlic. The salad combines cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red onions, green peppers, mint and romaine lettuce with lemon-herb vinaigrette, feta cheese slices, pepperoncinis and olive oil.
“We know our guests are seeking better-for-you choices, but they don’t want to compromise on flavor and variety, and we’re perfectly positioned to give them both,” said Paul Pszybylski, vice president of culinary innovation at CPK.
Vocelli Pizza has added a stuffed crust formulation to its lineup. The offering utilizes hand-tossed dough mixed with olive oil and a mozzarella cheese filling. Consumers can order the pizza in a plain cheese variety or customize the item with a number of toppings such as red tomatoes, red onions, Italian sausage and the company’s cup and crisp pepperonis.
“Our chefs were challenged with crafting a pizza that delivered on indulgence and innovation while holding true to our high-quality, authentic Italian commitment,” said Toni Bianco, chief executive officer at Vocelli.
Convenience chain Casey’s has debuted its latest limited-time pizza innovation, Italian deli pizza. Available in thin or traditional crust varieties, the product is topped with marinara sauce, deli salami, chopped bacon, banana peppers, mozzarella cheese and Casey’s Parmesan cheese blend.
Additionally, the company has launched a series of Italian deli-inspired sliders made with King’s Hawaiian rolls, deli meats, provolone cheese, Parmesan and banana peppers.
“Casey’s all new Italian deli pizza combines rich, hearty ingredients that come together in a savory, tangy bite full of classic deli flavors,” said Brad Haga, senior vice president of prepared food and dispensed beverages at Casey’s. “Recommended on our crispy thin crust, this limited-time offer pushes the boundaries of craveability slice after slice and brings the authentic flavors of Italy straight to your table.”
