CHICAGO — Pete & Gerry’s Organics, LLC, a specialty egg company with organic, free range and pasture raised eggs sold under Pete & Gerry’s and Nellie’s Free Range brands, has acquired Pasture Brands Holdings, LLC from Benford Capital Partners.

Brown Gibbons Lang & Co. was the financial adviser to Pasture Brands. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Back in 2021, I set out to find a financial partner with a demonstrated track record of scaling food and consumer brands,” said Ryan Miller, chief executive officer of Pasture Brands. “Partnering with Benford Capital has been instrumental in accelerating our growth. With BCP’s strategic guidance and highly engaged approach, we were able to achieve our growth goals and I’m excited to continue leading the company in this next chapter.”

Pasture Brands Holdings, which was formed in December 2021 to acquire Farmers Hen House, has been a part of Benford Capital Partner’s portfolio for approximately three years.

Benford said it worked with Pasture Brands to grow its executive team, prioritize branded revenue growth and expand its network of suppliers.

Farmers Hen House was founded in 1997 in Kalona, Iowa. The company sources, processes and packages branded and private label specialty eggs for the natural, conventional grocery and club channels.

The acquisition will add a Farmers Hen House packing facility to Pete & Gerry’s Organics portfolio. The packing facility addition, Pete & Gerry’s Organics said, will significantly increase its overall processing and capacity and provide flexibility and efficiency in its manufacturing systems.

Pillars was founded in 2016 by Eric Bonin and is a drinkable Greek yogurt company. Pasture Brands added Pillars to its portfolio in May 2024.

Benford Capital Partners’ portfolio includes Turri’s, a provider of individually quick frozen pasta and rice products; RP Foods, a branded, private label and business-to-business Hispanic food and beverage company; Legacy Bakehouse, a developer and manufacturer of baked snack ingredients like bagel chips, rye chips, pita chips and others; Brothers International Food, a company that offers an ingredients division and the Brothers All-Natural division; among others.

“Pasture Brands is a great example of BCP’s approach to scaling CPG brands,” said Ben Riefe, managing director at Benford Capital Partners. “Since partnering with Ryan Miller in December 2021, the key tenets of our value creation plan included building the senior management team and growing the company’s branded sales through new customer wins. We are thrilled with this successful realization and are confident the company is well-positioned for continued success in the years ahead.”
