LAS VEGAS — Wet Hydration, a functional beverage startup founded in 2020 by Spencer Altschul, has raised a $4.5 million in a seed funding round that was backed by private investors. The company is seeking to expand through product innovation, hiring new personnel and distribution.
The company said the latest funding round comes after its $1.5 million raise in 2024.
Wet Hydration’s product lineup includes such functional beverages as Glow for immunity support, Boost for energy, Refresh for daily vitamins and Refresh for ultimate hydration.
Flavors include blackberry melon, watermelon lime, peach pineapple and orange mango.
To expand its product lineup, the company is launching a new beverage called Build – a kiwi passionfruit flavored protein water – along with new lines of “non-functional” canned still and sparkling waters.
Next innovations include a probiotic water and a relaxation-focused lemonade flavor formulated with ashwagandha and L-theanine.
The company said it also is looking to innovate in private label production, the powdered beverage space later in 2025 and co-branded collaborations.
For its personnel hires, the company has hired Jon McKillop as president.
Previously, McKillop was vice president of sales for 1-800-Flowers.com and earlier was executive vice president of sales North America for Celsius Holdings, Inc.Enjoying this content? Learn about more disruptive startups on the Food Entrepreneur page.
