NEW YORK — Oddball has launched a “better-for-you” ready-to-eat, animal-free jelly snack formulated with fruit and plant-based ingredients. The company said it is aiming to disrupt the Jell-O and fruit snack category.
“Growing up in Asia, there were options for people who wanted something to snack on that didn’t include dairy or gluten,” said Sophia Cheng, founder and chief executive officer of Oddball. “When I came to the US, I noticed that option was missing, so, I decided to create my own.”
The snack’s flavors of mango, grape, double berry and pink grapefruit, Cheng said, were inspired by her childhood in Hong Kong and Singapore where she often ate agar-agar jelly desserts.
The plant-based snacks come in a 2.75-oz, ready-to-eat cup, are under 60 calories and feature ingredients including agar and carob.
The products are available for $3 for a two pack and may be purchased on the company’s website.Enjoying this content? Learn about more disruptive startups on the Food Entrepreneur page.
