WASHINGTON — Butter, cheese, fruit, vegetable and poultry stocks on July 31, 2013, were higher than year-earlier levels but egg and red meat stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage Report.
Total frozen egg stocks on July 31 were 26,097,000 lbs, down 25% from June and down 32% from July 2012. Stocks of egg whites were 3,481,000 lbs, down 16% from June but up 3% from July 2012. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 1,653,000 lbs, down 41% from June and down 35% from July 2012. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 8,241,000 lbs, up 6% from June but down 31% from July 2012. Unclassified egg stocks were 12,722,000 lbs, down 20% from June and down 39% from July 2012.
Natural cheese stocks on July 31 were 1,152,050,000 lbs in July, up slightly from 1,149,377,000 lbs in June and up 5% from July 2012. Butter stocks totaled 295,811,000 lbs, down 7% from June but up 26% from July 2012.
Frozen turkey stocks totaled 580,829,000 lbs, up 3% from June and up 6% from July 2013, the U.S.D.A. said. Total chicken stocks were 685,092,000 lbs, up 4% from June and up 5% from July 2012. Total frozen poultry stocks were 1,268,535,000 lbs, up 3% from June and up 5% from July 2012.
Frozen red meat supplies totaled 1,037,797,000 lbs, down 3% from June and down slightly from 1,039,092,000 lbs in July 2012. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 463,921,000 lbs, down 4% from June but up 1% from July 2012. Total pork stocks were 545,260,000 lbs, down 4% from June and down 1% from July 31, 2012.
Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate totaled 915,070,000 lbs, down 8% from June but up 7% from July 2012. Stocks of all types of frozen fruit were 1,250,716,000 lbs, up 31% from June and up 16% from July 2012.
Stocks of frozen french fries were 896,189,000 lbs, down 11% from June but up 6% from July 2012. Total vegetable stocks (excluding potatoes) were 1,780,303,000 lbs, up 8% from June and up slightly from 1,779,073,000 lbs in July 2012.
