CHICAGO — McDonald’s Corp., announced it would launch its McCrispy Strips and Creamy Chili Dip on May 5 to restaurants nationwide.

The quick-service chain said this would be the first permanent menu item added since 2021 in the United States.

The McCrispy strips will feature 100% white meat, breading and black pepper flavor. Customers can order the chicken strips in three or four-piece servings.

“When we introduce a new menu item like McCrispy Strips, we know we have a big promise to fulfill to meet our customer’s expectations,” said Cesar Piña, senior vice president and chief supply chain officer at McDonald’s. “From the farms we source from to how food is prepared in our restaurants, bringing new products to our fans requires collaboration across suppliers, franchisees, and company staff. We hold ourselves to the highest standard and aim to bring fans nothing less than greatness.”

Chicken strips were previously available as Buttermilk Crispy Tenders but were put on hold in 2020, due to the pandemic.

The company previously tried to rebrand its chicken strips as the return Chicken Selects for a limited time in 2015. The Chicken Selects launched in 2002 and stayed on the regular menu until 2013.
