INDIANAPOLIS — The show floor was buzzing with confectionery innovations at the annual 2025 Sweets & Snacks Expo held in Indianapolis from May 12 to 16.
Product debuts included offerings centered on healthier formulations and novel tastes and textures. Mars, Inc., for example, debuted Goodies under its Starburst brand. The candies are formulated with fruit juice, contain 4 grams of sugar per serving and serve as a good source of fiber, according to the company.
Mars also tapped into consumer desire for a nostalgic pairing with the debut of peanut butter and jelly M&M’s. The chocolate-coated treats feature a peanut butter center and berry flavors in a bite-size format.
“Treating plays an important role in life's moments, big and small," said Tim LeBel, president of sales at Mars Wrigley North America. "Through new and nostalgic flavors, festive shapes and playful textures, we help drive the category and empower retailers to deliver moments of everyday happiness for consumers."
Smarties Candy Co. is leaning into the success of its squishy texture Squashies line with Mixed Fruit Smarties Squashies. The candy contains a blend of such flavors as orange, pineapple, lemon, lime, cherry and blackcurrant.
“We’re thrilled to expand the Squashies line with this playful, fruit-forward mix,” said Jessica Dee Sawyer, co-president of Smarties Candy Co. “Consumers are craving new textures and standout flavors, and Smarties Squashies deliver both. With their cloud-like chew and fruit-packed flavor, they stand on their own as a fresh addition to the candy aisle.”
