BATESVILLE, ARK. – A Pilgrim's Pride chicken processing plant in Batesville is expected to close its doors in 60 days as the company discusses a potential sale to Rogers, Ark.-based Ozark Mountain Poultry.

A spokesman for Pilgrim’s Pride said the closing is part of the company’s broader corporate strategy. More than 400 people work at the Batesville plant, which the spokesman said is Pilgrim’s Pride’s smallest poultry complex. He described the facility as a “fresh food service plant.”

Ozark Mountain Poultry is a subsidiary of OMP Foods, which markets the Forester Farmers Market brand of antibiotic-free chicken products.
