FRANKFORT, KY. — Tyson Foods Inc. is investing $23.5 million in the expansion and modernization of its facility in Robards, Ky.

Fueled by increased market demand for protein, the project will focus on increased capacity and product diversity. The expansion work will include new equipment and upgrades to the current facility. The project is expected to be completed in spring of 2026.

According to an announcement from Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear’s office, the facility supports over 1,100 jobs in the area.

“Tyson Foods has successfully done business in Kentucky for over 30 years and is positioned for even more growth in the future with this expansion and modernization,” Beshear said. “I want to congratulate the company’s leaders on this progress and thank them for their longstanding commitment to the commonwealth. I’m excited to see Tyson Foods continue to grow and thrive in Henderson County.”

On June 26, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved an economic development incentive agreement with Tyson Foods. The agreement will provide up to $3 million in tax incentives based on the company’s investment of $23.5 million and a 90% job retention rate at the Robards facility.

Tyson’s last major investment in the Robards facility came nearly 10 years ago in 2016. At the time, the company invested $13.5 million to upgrade its product mix, which created 66 new jobs.

However, the Robards facility also has faced challenges in recent years. In 2022, Tyson Foods laid off 200 employees as part of a shift in product mix aimed at meeting consumer demand for fully cooked, value-added chicken products.

Headquartered in Springdale, Ark., Tyson Foods currently employs a total of 138,000 employees.
