Food Entrepreneur CLARENCE, NY. — FoodNerd is scaling its baby and children-focused food startup by opening a new production facility in Clarence in addition to retail expansion. The facility will enable the startup to scale its plant-based puff products from “hand-packing each product” to a “fully automated production” operation, according to the company.

The startup uses a Nutrient Lock Cold Processing technology, which may help preserve up to 98% of nutrients from fruits, vegetables and sprouted seeds, to produce its Mega Puff products.

The Mega Puff line, which is formulated with FoodNerd’s organic sprouted seed blend of pumpkin seed, chia seed, flax seed and broccoli seed along with other fruits and vegetables, comes in several varieties, including: wild blueberry currant, pineapple mango, beet apple, bell pepper avocado and banana moringa.

“The love of a mother is the most powerful force I know,” said Sharon Cryan, founder and chief executive officer of FoodNerd. “It’s where this mission began, and it is the purest kind of fuel that drives me every day. Six years ago I dreamed of creating a facility that would change the game. I’m so proud to stand here with all of you as we open our first commercial facility right here in Buffalo, NY.”

FoodNerd was founded in 2019 by Cryan, a single working mother, initially as a meal prep business.

The startup later shifted its focus to R&D to refine its approach and in 2024, the company launched its Mega Puffs, according to the company.
