MUSKEGO, WIS. — Jackson’s is entering the vegetable straw category with the launch of Jackson’s Super Veggie Straws. The product, which debuted at the recent Sweets & Snacks Expo held in Indianapolis, are fried in avocado oil and come in three varieties: cheddar, sea salt and ranch.

Jackson’s formulated the vegetable straws with yellow peas, brown rice, cassava and sweet potato. Jackson’s Super Veggie Straws are available nationwide on the company’s website, select retailers and will be available on Amazon in July.

The company was founded in 2013 by Scott and Megan Reamer in their Crested Butte, Colo., kitchen after their oldest son Jackson was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disorder.

The couple then began making sweet potato chips in their kitchen with coconut oil with the intention of it being a low-inflammation snack for Jackson.

The company was later featured on Shark Tank’s Season 9 and accepted a $1.25 million investment for 15% equity from Rohan Oza, according to Shark Tank Recap.

Jackson’s sweet potato chip line includes such flavors as sea salt, spicy jalapeno, Carolina barbecue and farmhouse ranch.

Jackson’s also offers a kettle chip line that is cooked in avocado oil and comes in a sea salt variety.
