VANCOUVER, B.C. — Burcon NutraScience Corp. is partnering with a yet to be named commercial partner to produce, market and sell Burcon’s Peazazz pea protein. According to Burcon, Peazazz is 100% soluble, transparent and heat stable in low pH solutions. The pea protein is suited for use in low pH beverages as well as other food and beverage applications, Burcon said.
“We believe Peazazz’s potential in the global protein ingredient industry will be well served through the partnership contemplated in the letter of intent we have executed today,” said Johann F. Tergesen, president and chief operating officer.
Burcon said Peazazz is consistent with existing pea proteins that are valued for their high digestibility and low potential for allergic responses.
