Clemens Food manufactures such pork brands as Hatfield, Farm Promise and Premium Reserve.

HATFIELD, PA. — The Clemens Food Group, the processors of such pork brands as Hatfield, Farm Promise and Premium Reserve, plans to build a pork processing plant in Coldwater Township, Mich. The total investment is estimated to be $255.7 million and the plant will bring 810 new jobs to the region.

“Today’s announcement marks a major milestone in the history of our company and the future of pork production in the state of Michigan,” said Doug Clemens, chief executive officer of the Clemens Food Group.

Clemens Food plans to break ground on the project in 2017 and open later in 2017 or early 2018.

The company is a family owned integrated pork production operation that includes farming, processing, transportation and logistics. The company has a total of 2,200 employees. It currently manufactures products from two plants and generates $735 million in sales, which ranks the company as No. 45 on Meat&Poultry Magazine’s annual top 100 ranking of the largest companies in the industry.
