OMAHA — ConAgra Foods, Inc. plans to close its Carriage House plants in Dunkirk and Fredonia, N.Y., next year, shifting production to other facilities and eliminating about 425 jobs. ConAgra acquired the plants as part of its acquisition of Ralcorp in January 2013.
The plant in Dunkirk makes private label condiments and sauces, including pourable salad dressings, syrup, flavored beverage mixes and seafood cocktail sauce. The plant in Fredonia also makes private label condiments and sauces, as well as peanut butter, preserves and jellies.
“The food will be made at other plants in ConAgra Foods that have similar capabilities and available capacity, which will allow the company to operate more effectively and efficiently,” said Daniel Hare, a spokesman for ConAgra.
One of the facilities that is expected to pick up the slack is a Carriage House plant in Buckner, Ky.
