SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. — NutraCea has changed its corporate name to RiceBran Technologies, the Scottsdale-based company said Oct. 11.

“Coupled with our longstanding tag line — nutrition by nature — our new name clearly defines who we are and what we do,” said W. John Short, president and chief executive officer. “Earlier this year we completed a three-year portfolio transformation from a multi-divisional business operator to complete focus on our rice bran bio-refining business model. RiceBran Technologies aptly describes our focused approach to that rice bran-centric business model.”

RiceBran Technologies, a human food ingredient and animal nutrition company, focuses on the procurement, bio-refining and marketing of numerous products derived from rice bran.

The company also announced it has named Robert C. Schweitzer and David Goldman to its board of directors.

Mr. Schweitzer, chairman of the board of directors of PetMed Express, Inc., will serve on several board committees, including the executive, compensation, nominating and governance and audit committees.

Mr. Goldman will act as chairman of the audit committee. He gained audit and regulatory experience during his 35-year career at Deloitte & Touche.
