LA CROSSE, WIS. — Agropur Ingredients, a supplier of dairy ingredients to the baking, beverage and dairy/cheese industries, has announced plans to expand its operations in La Crosse.

The project is slated to commence this month with completion anticipated by April 2015.

The project will expand the plant size by approximately 20%, adding 34,000 square feet. The facility will encompass about 200,000 square feet when it is finished.

The project will bring to the La Crosse plant a new and improved plow blend line and form fill seal pouching line, a high volume twin blender system, a new retail packaging line, racked warehouse storage and four shipping and receiving docks.

“Our continued success and growth will be governed by our ability to identify our greatest strengths and best opportunities for efficiency,” said Shawn Wegner, vice-president — quality and engineering. “This expansion allows the ingredients business to build-upon reusable assets to create the optimal production environment.”

Agropur Ingredients is the ingredients business unit of Agropur Cooperative, a dairy cooperative based in Longueuil, Que. It acquired the La Crosse plant in 2013 and rebranded the business, formerly Main Street Ingredients, as Agropur Ingredients.
