ROUGEMONT, QUEBEC — Lassonde Industries, Inc., has entered into an agreement to acquire juice maker Apple & Eve L.L.C., Port Washington, N.Y., for $150 million. Apple & Eve is a manufacturer of branded juices and it had sales of approximately $190 million during its most recent fiscal year.
“Our entry into the branded juice business in the United States represents another major milestone in our North American strategy,” said Pierre-Paul Lassonde, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Lassonde Industries Inc. “It is aligned with our strategy of consistent, measured growth and enhances our overall position in the industry by providing an excellent platform for the future.”
Upon closing of the transaction, which is expected to occur in July 2014, Lassonde will have a 90% equity interest in Apple & Eve.
Lassonde Industries is a manufacturer and marketer of beverages and other products in North America. The company is comprised of four subsidiaries, which include A. Lassonde, a manufacturer of fruit and vegetable juice drinks; Clement Pappas, a marketer of private label beverages; Arista Wines; and Lassonde Specialties, a manufacturer of soups, sauces and broths.
