NuGo Fiber d'Lish bars are available in 10 flavors.

PITTSBURGH — A maker of protein bars is adding a new brand to its portfolio. NuGo Nutrition has acquired Gnu Foods FiberLove bars with plans to relaunch the product as NuGo Fiber d’Lish. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Fiber d’Lish is soft-baked with a proprietary blend of soluble and insoluble fiber. Made with a mix of grains and seeds, plus prebiotic inulin, the bars contain 12 grams of fiber and 130 to 160 calories. Flavors include cinnamon raisin, orange cranberry, chocolate brownie, apple cobbler, banana walnut, coconut macaroon, blondie bar, carrot cake, blueberry cobbler and peanut butter chocolate chip. The products are Non-G.M.O. Project verified, and 9 of 10 varieties are vegan.

“Knowing the benefits of diets rich in fiber, like reduced risk of heart disease and diabetes, and improved digestive health, we really wanted to offer our customers a superior and tasty, on-the-go fiber option,” said David Levine, co-founder and chief executive officer of NuGo Nutrition. “After searching for the best fiber bar recipe, we realized it had already existed with FiberLove bars. Bringing the bars into the NuGo family as NuGo Fiber d’Lish matches our commitment to excellence, and further strengthens the NuGo brand.”

Pittsburgh-based NuGo Nutrition manufactures dark chocolate-coated snack bars made without hydrogenated oils, trans fats or high-fructose corn syrup. The company offers gluten-free, soy-free, low-sugar and vegan options.

Gnu Foods, New York, was founded in 2004 by a team of fiber experts. FiberLove bars debuted in 2013 as a rebranding of Gnu Foods’ original Flavor & Fiber bar.

“The mission at Gnu Foods has always been to redefine the fiber experience by giving people an enjoyable and easy way to get the daily fiber they need,” said Andrew Brooks, founder and c.e.o. of Gnu Foods. “NuGo’s extensive retail distribution and broader product portfolio will help spread delicious, healthy fiber to a wider audience of active consumers.”

NuGo Fiber d’Lish bars are available nationally at conventional supermarkets with natural food sections and natural food retailers, including Whole Foods Market.
