LONGUEIL, QUEBEC — Agropur is investing $100 million to expand its Luxemburg, Wis., cheese processing plant. The company said the investment will improve its whey processing facility and its wastewater treatment system. The project is expected to be completed in 2014.

“This investment is Agropur’s largest capitalization project to date,” said Robert Coallier, chief executive officer. “We are committed to and believe in the future of the U.S. dairy industry, and we are here for the long haul.”

Agropur is a North American agricultural cooperative with C$3.6 billion ($3.62 billion) in sales. The company has 25 plants across Canada and the United States. The company operates seven facilities in the United States, and markets its products under such brands as Natrel, Schroeder and Olympic.
