ST. LOUIS — Post Holdings, Inc. has committed to sourcing 100% sustainable palm oil globally by December 2016. Although its business units use relatively little palm oil, Post is pledging to ensure its purchases of the ingredient do not contribute to deforestation of the world’s rainforests or negatively affect communities that depend upon them.

Post has become a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, an organization dedicated to championing the growth of sustainable palm oil products, and said it plans to work with its direct suppliers to support the development of a sustainable, cost-effective market for palm oil.

St. Louis-based Post offers a broad portfolio of ready-to-eat cereal brands, including Malt-O-Meal, Grape Nuts and Honey Bunches of Oats. The company’s Michael Foods group distributes egg, dairy and potato products. Post’s Active Nutrition platform includes PowerBar, Premier Protein and Dymatize brands. Post’s Private Brands group manufactures nut butters, dried fruits, baking and snack nuts, cereal and granola.
