KANSAS CITY — Pizza is popular in new menu item releases, especially pies inspired by Italian cuisine and meats.
Sbarro’s new Classic Italian Sausage & Peppers Pizza is inspired by the classic Italian sausage sub. The pie, created with a Sicilian sauce and sesame seed-topped crust, features roasted peppers and onions, 100% whole milk mozzarella cheese and Italian sausage slices.
Pie Five Pizza Co. is offering consumers a multitude of meats with its new Italian Meatza Pizza. This protein-packed pie features Italian sausage, bacon, salami and pepperoni on top of mozzarella cheese and a marinara sauce blend. Customers also may customize it.

Italian sausage also shows up on Papa John’s new pizza, the Sriracha Meats pizza. The pie is slathered with Papa John’s special Sriracha sauce then topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, sliced red onions and cheese.
