KANSAS CITY — Food manufacturers are dishing out dessert flavors in unique formats: chips that taste like pie, coffee flavored like cake, and even desserts flavored like other desserts.

The Kellogg Co. is pairing Pringles and pie with one of its new Pringles flavors: pecan pie. The brand also is adding salted caramel, white chocolate, tortilla cinnamon and sugar, and milk chocolate flavors to its lineup.

Coffee and cake become companions in Community Coffee’s new offering: Mardi Gras King Cake coffee. This limited-time flavor, inspired by the celebration of Mardi Gras, features vanilla and cinnamon flavors.

Desserts featuring flavors of other desserts become a sweet reality with J&J Snack Foods’ and General Mills’ new Pillsbury Mini Pies. The portioned frozen dessert squares offer the flavors of S’mores, Chocolate Lava cake, or apple cinnamon. Each package comes with four, 1.8-oz frozen mini pies and a flavored icing packet.
