'Twas a tough year for Blue Bell.

KANSAS CITY — 2015 was a tough year for Blue Bell Creameries, Chipotle Mexican Grill and loyal consumers of both brands. The former recalled all of its products in April after a Listeriosis outbreak sickened a reported 10 people, including 3 who died. The latter temporarily shuttered dozens of restaurants in the wake of a multi-state E. coli outbreak, the investigation of which remains ongoing.

5. Apple packer expands recall

In January, Bidart Bros. Apple Packing, Shafter, Calif., issued a recall of all Gala and Granny Smith apples it sold to food processors that may have been used in the making of caramel-coated apples after two strains of Listeria monocytogenes associated with a fatal outbreak were found at the company’s packing plant in Bakersfield, Calif.
