ST. JOSEPH, MO. — Daily’s Premium Meats, which is jointly owned by Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods, plans to build a new $41.5 million, 100,000-square-foot pork processing plant in St. Joseph. Site work is expected to begin this summer while operations are anticipated to begin in May 2016. The new plant will produce sliced-to-order naturally hardwood smoked bacon, and it will employ approximately 200 people.
The new plant will be built across the street from Triumph Foods’ fresh pork processing plant in St. Joseph.
“Since 1893, Daily’s has stood for the highest quality in premium meats, especially hardwood smoked bacon, and we’re proud to carry on that tradition with this new plant,” said Kelly Hattan, president of Daily’s Premium Meats. “As part of an integrated food system, we look forward to the opportunities the new plant will offer our customers, as well as being part of the St. Joseph community.”
Daily’s operates bacon processing plants in Missoula, Mont., and Salt Lake City, and the company markets and sells a variety of processed pork items from signature honey cured bacon to Applewood smoked bacon to naturally smoked hams to breakfast sausages. Triumph Foods is owned by five member-owners who are pork producers. Seaboard Foods, an integrated food company, has farm and pork processing operations. The Seaboard Foods’ Guymon, Okla., plant and the Triumph St. Joseph plant supply pork bellies for Daily’s premium bacon.
Daily’s became part of Seaboard Foods’ integrated system in 2005, while Triumph Foods purchased a 50% interest of the company from Seaboard Foods in September 2014.
