Fast-food operator said consumers are getting more adventurous with bread choices.

DENVER — Fast-food operator Quiznos has added pretzel bread to its bread lineup. In making the move, the Denver-based company cited data showing pretzel offerings increased 33% on sandwich menus in 2014 and have risen 170% since 2010. “Quiznos guests are getting more adventurous with their bread preferences and told us they’re craving pretzel bread,” said Susan Lintonsmith, chief marketing officer. “We are confident that our customers will be impressed with Quiznos authentic Bavarian-style pretzel recipe. Pretzel is at the forefront of the bread scene, and we’re proud to be one of the first major sandwich chains to offer it to our guests.” Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Blimpie was the first national sub shop to roll out pretzel bread back in 2009, and several fast-food chains, including Wendy’s, have picked up on the trend in recent years.
