CAMDEN, N.J. — Adam G. Ciongoli has been named senior vice-president and general counsel of Campbell Soup Co., effective July 13. With more than 20 years of legal experience, Mr. Ciongoli will oversee the company’s legal, corporate secretary and government relations activities as a member of the Campbell leadership team. He will report to Denise Morrison, president and chief executive officer of the Camden-based company.

Most recently, Mr. Ciongoli was executive vice-president and general counsel of Lincoln Financial Group, where he directed the law, compliance, corporate secretary and government relations departments. Previously, he was group general counsel and secretary for Willis Group Holdings, P.L.C., and senior vice-president and general counsel for Time Warner, Europe. He also has served as the counselor to the Attorney General of the United States, as chief counsel to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, Federalism and Property Rights, and as law clerk to United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr.

“Adam brings a diverse and extensive range of experience to his role as general counsel, having practiced law in both the public and private sectors, which will be an asset as we work to reshape Campbell for future growth,” Ms. Morrison said. “I welcome his perspective and look forward to working with him to build on the strong foundation we have established with our legal department.”

Mr. Ciongoli has a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center.
