Blue Bell Creameries has resumed production of ice cream at its Sylacauga, Ala., facility.

BRENHAM, TEXAS — Blue Bell Creameries has resumed production of ice cream at its Sylacauga, Ala., facility following the April voluntary recall of all of its products in the wake of a Listeria outbreak. The Brenham-based company announced on its Facebook page on Aug. 5: “We’re busy at our Sylacauga, Ala., facility crankin’ out ice cream and building inventory. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the details of our return!”

The company said it began evaluating enhanced production processes and testing ice cream production at the plant at the end of July. This week, the Alabama Department of Public Health approved the sale of Blue Bell ice cream manufactured at the plant after inspections revealed the company was meeting all state public health requirements. Blue Bell’s Broken Arrow, Okla., and Brenham facilities remain closed, and the company has not disclosed when ice cream sales may resume.

Blue Bell on April 20 voluntarily recalled all of its products, including ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and frozen snacks, on the market made at all of its facilities. On June 9, the company said it had provided the F.D.A. a detailed list of corrective actions that were under way in response to the agency’s inspection reports of Blue Bell’s production facilities in Brenham, Broken Arrow and Sylacauga. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on June 10 said it had ended its investigation of theListeriosisoutbreak that affected a reported 10 people, including 3 who died. The investigation indicated various Blue Bell brand products were the source of the outbreak.
