The facility in Taiwan produced frozen dough products for the Taiwan market.

MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills, Inc. late last week announced two facility closings that will have an impact on the company’s international operations.

First, the company said it has closed its manufacturing facility in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The facility, which General Mills has operated since 2006, produced frozen dough products for the Taiwan market.

The closing will affect approximately 78 employees, the company said.

Separately, General Mills said it has reached a preliminary decision to exit its food service business in South Africa and close its facility in Linbro Park, Johannesburg. The Linbro Park plant makes cake mixes, dough products and baked foods. General Mills has operated the facility since 1997.

“The decision is subject to consultation with employees and employee representatives,” General Mills said.

If the decision becomes final, it would affect production staff and a number of salaried employees in South Africa. General Mills’ other businesses in the retail food sector will continue to operate, the company said.
