NEW YORK — Richard O’Leary has been promoted to executive vice-president and chief financial officer of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (I.F.F.), effective immediately. Mr. O’Leary will be taking the place of Alison A. Cornell, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities, I.F.F. said.

Most recently, since July 2015, Mr. O’Leary has been senior vice-president, controller and chief accounting officer for I.F.F. He has also held the roles of interim c.f.o., vice-president, corporate controller and vice-president of corporate development for I.F.F. since he joined the company in 2007.

Before his time at I.F.F., Mr. O’Leary spent 21 years at International Paper Co., holding finance leadership roles of increasing responsibility with assignments in Brazil, Belgium, France and the United States. Prior to International Paper Co., Mr. O’Leary was a senior auditor with Arthur Young & Co.

“Rich has been an accomplished financial leader for I.F.F. and a trusted business partner to the entire executive committee for nearly a decade,” said Andreas Fibig, chairman and chief executive officer of I.F.F. “His strong financial acumen, deep understanding of I.F.F.’s global business operations and ability to partner with our business leaders to improve overall company performance make him the clear choice to assume the c.f.o. role. With this natural and seamless transition, the board and I are confident that we have ensured continued focus on executing our Vision 2020 strategy to maximize shareholder value.”
