“As an industry leader in licensed food, we are excited to pair our unrivaled portfolio of brands, characters and stories with Dole’s fresh fruits and vegetables to support parents as they encourage their kids to make healthier food choices,” Mr. Silverman said.
The first program will launch this fall, followed by other health and nutrition education programs themed around other Disney, Star Wars and Marvel films and characters in 2017. The programs will include consumer promotions, digital integrations, in-store activities, and themed recipes featuring Dole products to encourage children and families to adopt a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.
Last fall, Disney detailed its partnership with Way Better Snacks, Enjoy Life Foods, WOW Baking Co. and Ocean Spray to offer Disney park-goers better-for-you and allergen-free snacks. The line of products, called Snacks with Character, offers vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and egg-free snacks. Each Snacks with Character product displays the allergen information prominently on the front of the package and is emblazoned with a Disney character like Mickey Mouse, Goofy or Donald Duck.
In 2012, Disney partnered with Ready Pac Foods to introduce a line of Disney-themed Ready Pac Cool Cuts salads and mini-meals for elementary and middle-school aged children.
