PLANO, TEXAS — The Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. has increased its stake in BA Sports Nutrition, maker of the Bodyarmor brand of sports drinks, from 11.7% to 15.5% with the investment of an additional $6 million. The beverage company is now the second largest investor in the brand, according to BA Sports Nutrition.

“Bodyarmor has been a winning addition to our allied brand lineup, enabling us to build our presence in the growing sports drink category with a great tasting and differentiated product,” said Rodger Collins, D.P.S. president of packaged beverages. “We’re very pleased to be increasing our investment in Bodyarmor while working closely with its strong management team to win more fans in more places in the coming months and years.”
In August 2015, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. invested $20 million in BA Sports Nutrition. Introduced in 2012, Bodyarmor beverages are high in potassium and made with such ingredients as coconut water, vitamins and cane sugar. The product is positioned in the market as a premium sports nutrition beverage.
