New pancakes are bigger and fluffier, according to Denny's.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — As part of recent quality and menu upgrades, Denny’s has reformulated its pancake recipe. The diner chain said its new buttermilk pancakes now are made with eggs, fresh buttermilk and a hint of vanilla. The improved pancakes are bigger and fluffier, according to the company.

“Pancakes are a staple of Denny's all-day breakfast culture, and while our guests told us our former pancakes were good, we knew we could do better than good,” said John Dillon, chief marketing officer for Denny's. “As one of America's greatest comfort foods, it wasn't surprising the feedback we received said that the majority of people think the best pancakes are actually those made by themselves, friends or family at home.

“So as we set out to upgrade our own pancakes, we knew we had to create a recipe that was so good it would even top those being made in kitchens across the country.”

Denny’s also is introducing four signature pancake varieties for a limited time, including sticky bun, topped with cinnamon sauce and a cream cheese icing drizzle; strawberries and cream, filled with white chocolate chips and topped with vanilla cream and strawberries; double berry banana, packed with blueberries and topped with strawberries and bananas; and peanut butter cup, filled with chocolate chips and white chocolate chips and topped with hot fudge and a drizzle of peanut butter sauce.

“We'll be unveiling plenty of pancake-packed action in the coming months, and we're excited to bring the nation many more new — and unique — ways to taste and enjoy our new 'cakes," Mr. Dillon said.
