KANSAS CITY — Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar has added two meals under 550 calories, a chicken and shrimp dish and a lemon parmesan shrimp entree.

“By using citrus oils to add fresh flavors instead of calories, and steaming potatoes before frying, our new menu fills you up with great-tasting food, minus the guilt,” said Jessica James, executive chef for Applebee’s.

The casual dining chain’s low-calorie menu also includes roasted garlic sirloin, grilled sirloin with garlic herb shrimp, and grilled chicken with Portobello mushrooms.
