SLOUGH, UNITED KINGDOM — The Reckitt Benckiser Group is in talks to acquire Mead Johnson Nutritionals, Glenview, Ill., for $90 per share in cash in a deal that would total approximately $16.5 billion if completed. Mead Johnson confirmed the two companies were in talks Feb. 1.
“Mead Johnson notes that no agreement has been completed, and there are no assurances that any transaction will result from these discussions,” Mead Johnson said. “The company does not intend to make any additional comments regarding this matter unless and until a formal agreement has been reached or discussions have been terminated.”
Mead Johnson Nutritionals manufactures and markets nutrition products for infants and children. The company owns such brands as Enfamil, Lactum, Nutramigen and Sustagen.
Reckitt Benckiser owns a variety of businesses focused on healthy, hygiene and the home. Brands owned by the company include French’s, Mucinex and Gaviscon.
