Two executives to retire and two to change roles at Hormel Foods.

AUSTIN, MINN. — Mark Coffey has been named vice-president of supply chain for Hormel Foods, and Mark Morey will assume the role of vice-president of affiliated business units in Refrigerated Foods.

The personnel changes are the result of the upcoming retirement of Bryan Farnsworth, senior vice-president of supply chain.

Mr. Coffey most recently was vice-president of affiliated business units in Refrigerated Foods, a role he has held since 2011. He began his career with Hormel in 1985 as a relief foreman at the company’s former Ottumwa, Iowa, facility. Mr. Coffey held various relief foreman and foreman positions before becoming the supervisor of sausage and cured and smoked meats at the company’s Atlanta facility in 1989. Mr. Coffey moved to the corporate office two years later as the product manufacturing manager for cured and smoked meats. After that, he became product manufacturing manager for fresh sausage and linear programs in 1993. From 1995 to 2011, he was plant manager for the former Houston, Texas facility; Dold Foods in Wichita, Kas.; Osceola (Iowa) Food; the Fremont, Neb., facility, then the Austin plant.

Mr. Morey was the former president of Hormel’s Farmer John business, which recently was acquired by Smithfield Foods for $145 million in cash. Mr. Morey started at Hormel in 1993 as a meat products sales representative in Dallas. The same year, he became a territory manager in Minneapolis. In 1994, Mr. Morey was elevated to meat products product manager at Hormel’s former Dubuque (Iowa) Foods facility, and in 1995, he became a regional food service sales manager for Dubuque Foods in Boston. Mr. Morey returned to the corporate office in 1998 as the product manager of fresh pork. He became the director of marketing for Precept Foods in 2000, and six years later he was named group product manager in meat products. In 2008, he advanced to director of fresh meats marketing and general manager of Precept Foods. Mr. Morey was named president of Dan’s Prize in 2009 before assuming the role of president of Farmer John in 2015.

Hormel also announced the retirement of Larry Lyons, senior vice-president of human resources.
