KANSAS CITY — Restaurants are inviting customers to travel with their taste buds by offering new menu items featuring flavors from all over the world.

Applebee’s and Subway are offering the tastes of Italy. Subway is introducing the Italian Hero sub, featuring spicy Capicola, Mortadella and Genoa salami. Applebee’s is paying homage to Capri, Italy, with its new Caprese Mozzarella Burger and Caprese Mozzarella Chicken.

Outback Steakhouse nods to Australia, the continent that inspired its name, with its new appetizer. The chain’s new 3-Point Bloomin’ Onion features the chain’s signature Bloomin’ onion topped with Aussie Cheese Fries (fries with Monterey Jack, cheddar and chopped bacon) as well as cubed pieces of seasoned center-cut sirloin steak.

Wingstop’s new offering beckons to Brazil. The chain’s new Brazilian Citrus Pepper Wings are dusted in a dry rub featuring citrus and piri piri peppers.

Wienerschnitzel is offering an homage to different spots around the United States with its new Chicago Dog, Green Chile Chili Cheese Dog, inspired by New Mexico, and Blazin’ Teriyaki Pineapple Dog, inspired by Maui, Hawaii.

Schlotzsky’s is celebrating its Austin, Texas, heritage by adding three new brisket sandwiches to its menu: traditional brisket, Cuban brisket and Tex-mex brisket.
