LOUISVILLE, KY. — Angela Sanders has been named chief marketing officer of Long John Silver’s, the quick-service seafood chain with nearly 1,000 restaurants nationwide. Ms. Sanders brings to the company more than 20 years of consumer-driven marketing experience. In her new role, she will lead the marketing team in developing a strategic voice and direction for the brand and will report to James O’Reilly, chief executive officer of Long John Silver’s.
“Long John Silver’s is beginning a new chapter,” Mr. O’Reilly said. “Angela is a seasoned marketer who can lead the charge to tell our brand story as we evolve, while respecting the heritage of this brand.”
Most recently, Ms. Sanders was senior vice-president of marketing at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc., where she supported a brand relaunch and repositioning of the company. Prior to that, she held top marketing roles at Smashburger, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc., and Boston Market.
Ms. Sanders’ hire underscores the company’s new focus on brand innovation following the unveiling of a new logo and six consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth.
“Long John Silver’s has an amazing story to tell,” Ms. Sanders said. “Our fish is wild-caught off the coast of Alaska and flash-frozen aboard the fishing boat in order to lock in the flavor.
“Plus, we are introducing a number of product and flavor innovations, like the current beer-battered cod offering as well as rolling out a restaurant redesign. It’s an exciting time for this brand.”
