BOSTON — Ian Baines has been tapped as the new president and chief executive officer of Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp. He succeeds Frank Guidara, who will remain with the company in a part-time consulting and advisory capacity until July 2014.

Mr. Baines most recently was senior vice-president of strategic innovation for Brinker International and Chili’s Grill & Bar. Earlier, he was president and c.e.o. of Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, and also was Smokey Bones’ president and executive vice-president of operations. Prior to Smokey Bones, he worked at Brinker as a regional vice-president of operations for Romano’s Macaroni Grill and vice-president of operations for Brinker’s Big Bowl Fresh Chinese and Thai brand.

Mr. Baines joined Brinker after spending more than a decade at Toronto-based SIR Corp. Restaurants, serving as president and chief operating officer of Jack Astor’s Bar & Grill. Earlier in his career, he was vice-president of restaurant operations and vice-president of food and beverage for Imago Restaurants in Toronto. He began his restaurant industry career as a chef working both in Toronto and London. A British native, he graduated from the culinary school of Westminster College in London.

Based in Boston, Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp. includes 143 company-owned and franchised restaurants located in 24 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Honduras, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
