Lori Abou Habib has been named chief marketing officer of Sonic Corp.
 

OKLAHOMA CITY — Lori Abou Habib has been named chief marketing officer of Sonic Corp. She succeeds Todd Smith, who resigned as president and c.m.o. in March. Sonic announced it was seeking a new c.m.o. in early February.

In her new role, Ms. Abou Habib will be responsible for leading brand strategy, production innovation, national marketing, brand management, media, digital strategy and marketing technology for the drive-in restaurant chain.

A 10-year veteran of Sonic, Ms. Abou Habib joined the company in 2007 as a product pipeline manager. Most recently, she was vice-president of national marketing. Prior to joining sonic, Ms. Abou Habib was regional marketing manager for CKE Restaurants, Inc., parent company of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, and senior marketing manager for Eateries, Inc.

Succeeding Ms. Abou Habib, Darin Dugan will join Sonic as vice-president of national marketing. He will lead the brand management and creative teams. Mr. Dugan most recently was senior vice-president of marketing and culinary for Applebee’s and previously spent 16 years at Kraft Foods. At Kraft, he held a series of progressive roles, including leadership positions for key product categories and brands, including Kraft Salad Dressings, Miracle Whip and Oscar Mayer Foods.

Additionally, Kim Lewis has been named vice-president of digital strategies for Sonic. In her new role, she will lead Sonic’s digital strategy, integrated marketing communications and customer relationship management. Most recently, Ms. Lewis was a consultant to a variety of brands on digital strategy and was head of marketing and e-commerce for Golfsmith International.

In addition to the marketing positions announced, Sonic said it is currently recruiting for a chief brand officer.
