Getting nutty

Based in West Orange, N.J., Perfect Life Nutrition was founded by food scientist Juan Salinas, Ph.D., who for 20 years developed snacks for companies, including Nestle S.A. and Kraft Foods Group. The brand’s flagship product is P-nuff Crunch Baked Peanut Puffs, containing 5 grams of protein per serving from navy beans, peanuts and rice, which together contain all nine essential amino acids. The product is vegan, gluten-free and low in sugar with no genetically modified ingredients.

The snack is both nostalgic and nutritious, Dr. Salinas told Food Business News. Additional flavor varieties and more peanut-based products are in development, he said.
