PLANO, TEXAS — Pizza Hut said it expects to hire nearly 3,000 new delivery drivers each month through the end of the year to bring in approximately 14,000 new drivers across the system. Additionally, the Yum! Brands subsidiary said it has developed a “delivery network algorithm” to improve the accuracy and reliability of its deliveries.

The new technology, which considers variable factors such as weather, construction and traffic to predict the time of delivery, will be available in all 6,300 Pizza Hut restaurants in the United States. The company also has overhauled its on-line mapping and location services to help customers identify the most convenient locations for faster delivery and carry-out options.

We are only scratching the surface in the territory of services and flexibility that we can offer to those looking to drive.”Earlier this year, executives of Louisville, Ky.-based Yum! Brands revealed plans to invest approximately $130 million over the next two years to resuscitate the Pizza Hut U.S. business. Greg Creed, chief executive officer of Yum! Brands, has said consumers are having problems getting the brand’s pizza, whether through ordering or delivery, which has been a major barrier to growth.
